Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (Jio) has announced a ‘free for life’ sound-pay feature for its JioBharat device, that is expected to benefit five crore small-scale merchants across the country.
The JioSoundPay would provide instant, multilingual audio confirmations for every UPI payment received, without needing any sound box, enabling seamless and efficient business operations for even the smallest kirana stores, vegetable vendors, and roadside eateries, the company said.
Existing small and micro merchants pay around ₹125 a month for a sound box. Now, with JioSoundPay being provided free JioBharat users will save ₹1,500 annually, the company said in a statement.
The move is expected to hit a PayTm that has the largest installation of sound boxes across the country.
The new feature would debut with a contemporary version of Vande Mataram on this Republic Day
“Jio believes in leveraging technology to empower every Indian,” said Sunil Dutt,
President, Jio.
