Infosys, a digital services and consulting firm, on Wednesday inaugurated its new 3,20,000 sq. ft. development centre (DC) in Kolkata, West Bengal.

The new facility, built at an investment of over ₹426 crore, is designed to accommodate over 4,000 employees in a hybrid working model, said the company.

The centre would provide employees greater flexibility and enable them to work on cutting-edge technologies such as cloud, AI, and digital, across a diverse range of industries, including manufacturing, logistics, financial services, energy and utilities, it said.

Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee officially inaugurated the centre in the presence of Babul Supriyo, Minister-in-Charge, Information Technology & Electronics and Public Enterprises and Industrial Reconstruction Departments, Sujit Bose, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Fire and Emergency Services and Amit Mitra, Principal Chief Advisor to the Chief Minister and Finance Department.

“The inauguration of Infosys’ Kolkata Development Centre is a hallmark investment in West Bengal, and we congratulate Infosys for its steadfast commitment in strengthening the state’s IT ecosystem,’‘ said Ms Banerjee.

With a strong focus on fostering talent and community collaboration, the West Bengal government was confident that this development centre would significantly advance innovation across the region, create employment opportunities, and position the state as a hub for IT excellence in India, she anticipated.
